I think the soup is good You get a lot of control because they bring you a plate with veggies and Jalapenos. You get to add as much stuff as you want. I like to add bean sprouts, lemon, basil, and 2 jalapenos. There are so many noddles I scoop them up with a single chop stick and get a big bite.

I have tried the new sandwich, I like it. It has lots of weird stuff in it. Pickled carrots, cucmber, pate, butter, and tons of strange pork stuff. It really tastes good, so don't look too close.

The avocado milk shake is good, green, creamy and weirdly yummy. The coffee is fun, of course you brew it at your table into sweet condensed milk. It is strong and sweet, a real treat. The thick texture sometimes is better over ice.

Overall the place is great.
Love the Cabbage,
Leaf

Pho Saigon

Poplar Ave by the Central Library

Pickles, Pickles, Every Where ...

I like Pickles. So I wanted to make some. I went to the farmers market today in Copper Young Area. They had fruit, vegetables and yummy things to eat. Even a guy who owns a worm farm! They had some delicious looking beets, so I got some to make pickle beets. Not your ordinary pickle.

I needed some help for this. First we roasted the beets, then we made a pickle juice. Ours had water, apple cider vinegar, cloves, bay leaf, pink peppercorns, cinnamon, cardamon and sugar. We sliced the beets, added them to a sterilized jar and poured the pickling juice in. I think they will be fabulous!

A couple of weeks ago we made dill pickles. I sliced the cucumbers with a crinkle cutter and we used a package of pickle mix. They are not as good as last years but they look pretty.

I also used some of the pickle juice from the beets and added fresh thinly sliced stalks of garlic and mashed it up. Mom said it would be a good salad dressing.

Get creative in the kitchen! Are you rooting for the home team?!

Central BBQ has the advantage it is located on Central Ave.
I love the Slab for 2- The ribs are meaty and yummy. I like the dry rub style a Memphis tradition. They're big. French fries, onion rings, and slaw all good. The buns not so much. They could get better buns!
The dry rub hot wings are spicy and smokey and one-of-a-kind delicious. When my family comes to town they are a must have. I have to include the Nacho's - cheesy, meaty, and with the right sauce spicy. The Portabella mushroom sandwich is better than it sounds with a good smokey flavor and sauce. The BBQ chicken is good but the turkey is better. A sausage cheese plate makes a great appetizer.

Memphis has a great variety of BBQ places so choose wisely, or just go to Central.

Love the cabbage,
Leaf

Chomp...Chomp...Chomp...Mmmm Burgers!

Where?! Off the Hoof in Arlington TN. It is worth the drive. Even some time traveling Civil War Guys were there enjoying the food.
The menu is devoted to Burgers. They don't just have regular burgers they serve some weird ones too, like Ostrich burgers, Buffalo burgers, and Kobe burger. I had the sliders with bacon, cheese, lettuce, tomato and pickle. The batter dipped fries were wonderful. They tasted like real, not processed. I really liked them.
Our waiter was happy and friendly. He was helpful and he got our order right. If your a kid they have a cool surprise for you.
My suggestions are to open a restaurant in Midtown and sorry to say this the name doesn't fit. Try something more like Burgers Inc. I thought the hoof meant BBQ and my Dad thought of Horses!

Love the Cabbage, Leaf
\

http://www.facebook.com/pages/Off-the-Hoof-Burgers/100796566629754?ref=ts&sk=wall

Icy Treats!

It is getting hot outside so head on down to La Michaocana for a tasty treat, located on Summer Ave.
The popsicles are great. They are $2 each and are better than the ice cream man. Here are some of the flavors: Watermelon, Kiwi, Pinenut, Mango, Mango chili, Grape, Hibiscus, and a bunch more. I like the pine nut best with the grape being my least favorite (too Kool-Aid)
The ice cream is wonderful. It is creamy and delicious. My favorite flavor is the Carmel Peacan, but they don't have it all the time. You may get lucky to get some. Other flavors are bubble gum, chocolate, pineapple cheese, pine nut, grape, and so many more too!
The girls are really nice. I would like to try the corn on the cob and the nachos, not to mention a fruit drink that looks different but good. This is good mexican ice cream!
Love the Cabbage- Leaf

The Journey Begins-

Come with me on a journey of tasty delight.
You will need some money, a car, and a taste for adventure.

My mission is to inform you about good places to eat out and I am not talking about the Kid's menu! Burger is delicious. The burger is made out of local Neola Beef with fresh greens and tomato. It also has bacon, cheese and avacodo, yum.
I like the Lemon Ice Box Pie and the BLT is great too.
